It’s always a great evening with Julia Wray who will be the guest on Wednesday March 5at Scarborough Jazz at the Cask.
Julia has been a professional saxophonist – tenor, alto, soprano and also the flute – for 20 years.
She started her playing career with the notable Hamps Tramps and over the years has performed with many local bands – Jive Spirit, Stony, the Geoff Laycock Big band and in her own quartet.
For the past five years she has played around the world in Europe, America and as a resident sax player in Dubai. She has performed at many jazz festivals and clubs up and down the country and has worked with some jazz greats including Alan Barnes, Paul Morgan and Snake Davis.
Julia has experience playing in a multitude of styles, from pop, rhythm and blues, funk, rock and jazz. She has a wide range of musical influences. In jazz these include Cannonball Adderley, Michael Brecker, Grover Washington and Art Pepper. Mark Gordon will be on keyboards with the backing trio..
The gig starts at 8.45 pm and entry fee is £4.
