Scarborough Jazz has booked saxophonist Tim New for its next session which is at the Cask on Wednesday
March 12.

He has enjoyed a long career in music mainly playing in small ensembles, His work includes radio and TV appearances and live theatre performances, though his first love has always been jazz.

Tim has played with guitar and bass in the trio Bejazzled for more than two decades.

He has a passion for melody and likes to feel that the listener can always hear the tune during his improvising. Rather than dazzle with dextrous virtuosity, Tim tries to communicate emotionally.

His playing covers a range of styles, though he is happiest playing Latin-American numbers and standard jazz tunes.

Tim also plays the flute which will endear him to The Cask regulars.

The Mike Gordon Trio will back Tim from 8.45pm, and admission is just £3.

The Scarborough Jazz Festival will be held at the Spa, Scarborough, from Friday September 26 to Sunday September 28.

Headliners include Nigel Kennedy. Tickets are on sale now.
