An exceptional evening of jazz is on offer when vocalist Anita Wardell brings a top-notch group of musicians to Scarborough Jazz.

Anita has enjoyed more than two decades of success and last year was pronounced Best Jazz Vocalist, leading a shortlist of Claire Martin, Liane Carroll, Val Wiseman and Clare Teal.

She is noted for her mesmerising and captivating vocal improvisations and vocalese lyrics to instrumental solos. Anita is a musician who uses her voice as her instrument, displaying precision and agility mixed with heartfelt emotion.

Her saxophonist Dave O’Higgins has worked with Stan Tracey, Jamie Cullum. Martin Taylor, Ray Charles, Jim Mullen and Frank Sinatra, among others.

The musicians who make up the rhythm section are: Dave Gorman – piano, Oli Hayhurst – double bass and drummer Tristan Maillot.
