Rising star trombonist Tom Green brings his septet to Scarborough Jazz at the Cask on Wednesday February 25.
One of the most exciting young trombonist /composers currently active in the UK, Tom has played at Ronnie Scott’s , The 606 Club and The Vortex.
He has played the jazz festivals of Montreux, Toronto and Montreal. Tom Studied at The Royal Academy of Music and won the Dankworth Prize for Jazz Composition in 2013.
Tom’s septet brings together some of the most talented musicians on the London jazz scene They create a warm, melodic sound using the full range of textures available to a seven piece ensemble.
The band weaves diverse influences together to form striking melodies, colourful harmonies and propulsive grooves.
Dame Cleo Laine said of them: “Some of the most exciting, original new music I have heard for a long time”.
With Tom are Matthew Herd – alto and soprano saxes, Sam Miles – tenor sax and James Davison – trumpet and flugelhorn. The rhythm section has Liam Dunachie - piano, Misha Mullov-Abbado – bass and drummer Scott Chapman.
