A new weekly indie rock night is heading to Scarborough with the promise of bringing some of the best up and coming bands to the town.

Meltdown will be held every Friday at Sigma, under the Cask, in South Cliff from Friday October19 and will feature top local DJs playing the best new and classic indie rock tunes.

The club night will also host a band night once a month with Redwire, the indie pop punk five-piece hailing from Bradford kicking off proceedings on Friday November 9.

The band who have already played Leeds Festival will be supported by Lazlo, who are fresh from supporting the Pigeon Detectives at The Spa earlier this year and University of Hull Scarborough campus band Nose.

York band Club Smith, who have recently supported the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Shed 7 and Kaiser Chiefs will headline the second band night on Friday 7th December and will be supported by Everyone An Army and La Petite Mort.

Great music plus the addition of competitions and projections the night will have it’s own unique feel like no other in the town.

One of Meltdown’s organisers Michael Hanson said: “This is the brainchild of a number of people who have been wanting a night like this in Scarborough for some time. There hasn’t been a venue that has consistently brought new bands to the town since the days of the Penthouse.” Tickets for both band nights are £4 each via:
