There will be a musical introduction to South Cliff Methodist Church’s special men’s coffee morning when the male members wait upon the ladies for a change.

Scarborough’s celebrity organist Howard ‘King of the Keyboard’ Beaumont has agreed to officially open this annual event held in the church hall at 10.15am on Wednesday October 10.

Howard filled the church with an organ recital to celebrate South Cliff’s 125th anniversary last year.

Another tradition is a Best Baked Scones competition when the menfolk roll up their sleeves in the kitchen to see who can win the trophy.

This year’s contest will be judged by Andrew Wyatt, proprietor of the No 17 Hotel in West Street. The scones will be sold afterwards and there will also be a bumper raffle. Proceeds towards church maintenance costs.

Entry free.
