Scarborough YMCA has unveiled an exciting line-up of summer shows featuring Disney favourites and West End musicals.
Five shows billed as a “feast of music, song and dance” will draw audiences to the St Thomas Street theatre from later this month until the end of August.
Centre stage will be the Disney Spectacular with a 13-strong ensemble cast performing hits from a huge range of Disney shows from Mary Poppins, Lion King and Jungle Book, right up to Tangled and Frozen. The show opens on August 21.
The fun doesn’t end there, however, as there are four other shows to enjoy this summer– each with its own unique character.
As well as directing the Disney Spectacular, James Aconley is also taking charge of three further shows –Viva Las Vegas, West End Nights and From Movies to Musicals – with James himself, Katie Gregson, Rebekah Kelly and Polly Aconley starring.
Viva Las Vegas features typical ‘Vegas’ songs made famous by artists like Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey and Barry Manilow. Viva Las Vegas can be seen on August 1 and 15 and also features dancers from Scarborough Dance Centre.
West End Nights, on August 8 and 29 features a selection of hits from shows like Les Miserables, Chicago, Wicked, Jesus Christ Superstar and Phantom of the Opera.
From Movies to Musicals is on Saturday August 22 and will include songs from film favourites like Moulin Rouge, Titanic, and Dirty Dancing.
Completing the summer line-up is a real treat for fans of West End musicals as Rowlies Academy of Dance present Musical Mashup With numbers from musicals like Thriller Live, Fame the Musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Oliver.
Musical Mashup can be seen each Saturday from July 26 to August 30.
