Back to Reality is a new musical by the students and staff at Stagecoach Scarborough being put on at the Spa later this month
The students’ annual show explores the affects that technology can have on us – set to a score of pop hits.
Back to Reality takes place in a world filled with hi-tech gadgets, where parents worry that their children’s minds have been taken over by video games, mobile phones, the internet, social media and the rest of it.
A group of young people come together to attend a support group, where the team leader, Valerie, is trying to get them to stop pressing buttons and start touching hearts.
Will she save their futures before technology wins?
Stagecoach principal Maria Arnold said: “Stagecoach has been established in Scarborough for 10 years and we wanted to look at the pace of change over that time.
“We had the idea of looking at how new technologies have developed and affected us all.
“The students and staff have worked incredibly hard creating this show and are really excited to be presenting an original idea along with well-known pop hits.
“We all think it will be great fun with a message about life today.”
Back to Reality can be seen at the Spa Theatre on Sunday at 7.30pm.
Tickets are available from the box office on (01723) 821888 and are £8 and £7.50 concessions.
