The Spa in Scarborough is having the last laugh with the launch of a comedy club which will run each Saturday from this week.
The first three comedians featured on the stage at the Promenade Lounge will be John Scott, George Egg, Colin Cole.
Coming up is a crop of seasoned headliners who have already been on TV plus upcoming stars making waves on the UK comedy circuit.
Highlights include Archie Kelly – who played Young Kenny in Phoenix Nights – on August 31 and November 9.
Regular Mock the Week panellist Gary Delaney is on November 2 and Steffen Peddie , who starred in the BBC Two sitcom Hebburn, takes the mike on October 19.
Former Friday Night Project host Rob Rouse headlines on November 16 and the club’s founder Toby Foster – who was also in Phoenix Nights, will compere three evenings between now and Christmas.
Spa’s general manager Helen Broadbent said: ‘We have had a great reaction to the news that the comedy club is going weekly, due to the great value and entertainment it has been a mainstay of South Yorkshire’s nightlife for a very long time and we hope it will be the same in Scarborough.”
Doors open at 7pm and sessions start at 8pm.
