Scarborough's Shannon and Paddy join Stig for stage show of kids' favourite

Stig of the Dump can be seen in the Round at the venue from Tuesday October 30 to Saturday November 3.

This lively, time-travelling show about a bored boy called Barney, who meets a caveman called Stig, is from the same team as last year’s sell-out production of George’s Marvellous Medicine.

The cast includes two professional actors who are both originally from Scarborough, and two members of the theatre’s youth performance group, Rounders.

Shannon Rewcroft plays Grandma.

Shannon is from Scarborough and trained at Drama Studio London, where she was a Spotlight Prize Nominee in 2014.

Actor, comedian and former Rounder Paddy Young (Grandad) is also from Scarborough and made his professional debut at the age of 11 Alan Ayckbourn’s The Jollies at the Stephen Jospeh.

After graduating from the Manchester School of Theatre he co-founded Swaggering Crow theatre company; its productions of A Kidnapping and Things We Want enjoyed critical success in Manchester before going on tour.

Tom Gilbert, who plays Barney, has been member of Rounders for five years. He performed in Grimm Tales in 2017 and in the Rounders 40th anniversary production, All Delighted People, earlier this year.

Mimi Clay plays Barney’s sister, Lou. She is 16 and was born in Leeds. She moved to Scarborough in 2007.

She has participated in numerous productions at school, the YMCA and the SJT.

Mimi has been a member of Rounders since she was eight

It’s directed by Cheryl Govan, with design by Julia Wray, and lighting design by Paul Stear. The sound designer and composer is Jack Radish.

Stig of the Dump can be seen in the Round at 10.30am on Tuesday October 30 and Wednesday October 31; at 10.30am and 2pm on Thursday November 1; and at 2pm and 7pm on Friday November 2 and Saturday November 3.
