Scarborough YMCA’s pantomime Sleeping Beauty opens on Boxing Day at 2pm. It is also on at 7.30pm

The pantomime is being directed by local performer and director James Aconley, who started out at the YMCA nine years ago in the pantomime Pinocchio.

“I am really proud to have been appointed as the director of this year’s pantomime at the YMCA. I am very thankful to the YMCA and all of the staff there over the years for their support and guidance.” said James.

“I am looking forward to putting in everything I have learnt at the YMCA, and from working in the entertainment industry for the past five years, into directing this year’s pantomime.”

“We have a fantastic cast. Seasoned local performers of all ages are brought together with some new faces,” James said.

The traditional story of Sleeping Beauty, dance routines, audience participation, a troupe of dancing animals, and perhaps a few surprises are being brought together.

James is being assisted by Claire Edwards, who is also
appearing as the Wicked Witch, with choreography by Julie Hatton and assistants.

The pantomime runs at the St Thomas Street theatre from Boxing Day until Saturday January 4. No performances on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. Box office on Scarborough (01723) 506750.
