New weekly podcasts look at the history of Sewerby Hall and Gardens in East Riding - how you can see it

Produced by education officer Robert Chester, the podcasts will each be around two minutes long, and will focus on the history of the venue, as portrayed by a different picture each week.

The first podcast on Aprill is called Into the Picture and is about the Garden Party of 1912 held at Sewerby Hall and Gardens, which was in fact a political rally by the then owners the Lloyd Greames, to further the political aspirations of Philip Lloyd Greame.

The next one on Wednesday April 29 will be about the history of the bandstand and Miss Monica Wilkin's orchestra, while the third on Wednesday May 6 will be about Yarburgh Greame's garden in 1850 - it was a new garden then which had not been long laid out.

Robert Chester said: “Although we are of course unable to open the house and the main facilities to the public at the moment, and we can’t host any events, I thought it would be a good idea to give people something interesting and informative to watch on a weekly basis. The podcasts will also help people keep in touch with Sewerby Hall and Gardens until we are able to reopen.”
