The award winning Heath Quartet arrive at the Stephen Joseph Theatre on November 1 to perform pieces by Mozart, Tippett and Tchaikovsky.
The Heath Quartet is emerging as a quartet with its own exciting and original voice.
Equally at home with classical and contemporary repertoire, the quartet has developed a reputation for bold and diverse programming that challenges the group’s technical abilities.
In this concert the Heath present three inventive string quartets. Mozart’s String Quartet in E flat is a restrained piece that calls for sensitive and nuanced playing while Tippet’s fourth string quartet is a virtuoso piece that requires great technique. Tchaikovsky’s emotive Quartet in E flat minor is a beautifully melodic piece.
This event is part of a series of concerts at the Stephen Joseph Theatre programmed in conjunction with Music in the Round, the UK’s leading promoter of chamber music outside London.
The Heath Quartet is a previous winner of the first prize award in the Tromp International Competition.
