Sewerby Hall and Gardens presents a weekend of World War One activities and events where visitors can explore an authentic soldiers’ camp.

The site will include various authentic equipment including soldiers’ tented accommodation, a quartermaster’s tent containing bedding, signals, weaponry, rations, machine gun, and field kitchen.

An original World War One ammunition cart and tack will also be on view during the weekend which runs on Saturday August 10 and Sunday August 11.

Ruth Getz, a period songstress, will be performing in the Orangery on Sunday at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

Marie Gascoigne, facility manager of Sewerby Hall and Gardens, said: “This year is the first time we have had a 20th century war-time re-enactment society on-site and should make for a very exciting weekend.

“There will be something for all the family whatever their age.”

Admission charges to Sewerby Hall and Gardens apply but there is no additional charge to attend these events.
