Praise for hospital’s work with chef

SCARBOROUGH NHS Trust has been rewarded for its work with celebrity chef James Martin.

The Saturday Kitchen presenter, who trained at Yorkshire Coast College and grew up in Ryedale, worked alongside Scarborough Hospital chefs earlier this year to change the way hospital food is created.

The results of “Operation Hospital Food” were then broadcast in a week-long BBC series in September.

Now the trust has been presented with a Good Egg Award at the Public Procurement Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards in London.

The Awards were presented to organisations that are committed to improving the welfare of farm animals in their supply chains.

Awards were presented in three categories – Good Egg Award, Good Chicken Award and Good Dairy Award.

The awards are part of the Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards programme that has been awarding the food industry across Europe since 2007.

More than 40 hospitals, educational centres and local councils were recognised at the awards.
