Who's who in BBC One drama Gentleman Jack

With the first episode of Gentleman Jack just around the corner, we take a look at the characters will be making an appearance in the BBC One drama, which starts at 9pm on Sunday (May 19).

Nineteenth-century landowner of Shibden Hall, Anne Lister is Gentleman Jack. Lister was give the nickname by her neighbours as an insult, mocking her masculine appearance and interest in women.
Walker is a wealthy heiress and is seduced by Lister when the pair meet in 1832. She grew up in Lightcliffe and the couple are known "for what is interpreted as the site of the first lesbian marriage to be held in Britain."

Marian is Annes younger sister. Shes concerned by the repercussions of Annes eccentricities, including her siblings administration of the family estate, Shibden Hall.
Aunt Anne Lister is (as her name suggests) Anne Lister's aunt. The pair share a loving relationship. Gemma Jones previously played the same character in 2010 BBC drama The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister.
Annes elderly father, Jeremy Lister, had four sons before Anne and Marian, but they all died at a young age. Rebecca Battle, mother of all the children and wife to Jeremy, died in 1817.
William Priestley is Ann Walkers cousin with he and his wife Elizabeth Priestley being fans of 'local celebrity' Anne Lister. Peter Davison is known for being the fifth incarnation of the Doctor from Doctor Who.
Eliza is Williams wife. She regularly features in the diaries of Anne Lister as one of the authors closest confidantes. Amelia Bullmore has previously worked with Sally Wainwright on dramas Scott & Bailey and Happy Valley.
Elizabeth Cordingley is Anne Listers maid at Shibden Hall. Rosie Cavaliero is known for her roles in Friday Night Dinner and Unforgotten.
Elizabeth Sutherland is Ann Walker's sister who has married and moved away from the area to live with her husband. Katherine Kelly has previously starred in Coronation Street, Cheat and Happy Valley.
