Local author to launch new book at special Scarborough Library event
A prolific local author who has been featured in an exciting new book is going to host an event at Scarborough Library on Earth Day to celebrate its launch.
Jamie Kershaw, a Scarborough based author, is set to give a talk about ‘Tendrils’ a collection of poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction celebrating nature, identity and personal growth. Jamie is a contributing author to the book, alongside his peers from the MA Creative Writing course at Arts University Bournemouth.

Readers can expect tales to range from an Irish fishing family threatened by ecotoxicity, a spooky tale about an elderly housemate's past as an acrobat, the lives of foreign nurses working for the NHS, an experience of (re)coming out as LGBTQIA+, and more.
All proceeds from book sales will go towards Tree Conservation.

The book launch event will take place on April 22, from 11am-3pm at Scarborough Library. Jamie Kershaw will be to talk about his contribution to the book, read passages upon request and sign copies.
"Tendrils" is readily available on Waterstones Website (since Dec 2025) so can be purchased in-store or from Amazon online.
Jamie was brought up in the Ryedale villages of Beadlam/Nawton and has spent most of his life in Yorkshire and the north east, having lived and worked in Scarborough since 2007.
Also a keen amateur musician, he is also the recipient of two Society of Author’s Awards, in 2021 and 2022, and was offered a Rocaberti Writer’s Scholarship 2025.
