Bridlington’s L.O.C band back with Reborn single and promo video

Bridlington’s newest and loudest metal band are already back with a brand new single: live favourite ‘Reborn’.

The track, dominated by a behemothic riff, might be ‘new’ to fans of the band, but it actually began life long before L.O.C was even a glimmer in the eye of frontman Adam Towse.

Adam said: “I actually wrote Reborn about seven years ago. The lyrics were originally centred around the subject of demonic possession. What inspired me to bring the song on board as an L.O.C track was the subject of rebirth, as I feel that forming L.O.C is my musical rebirth.”

As with most of the quartet’s songs, ‘Reborn’ is a relentless assault: almost four minutes of Adam Towse’s roared vocals, Mark Cooper’s thundering drums, Adam and Will Watson’s max-volume duelling guitars, and a throbbing bass-line from Dave Worth that ties together all elements.

The song’s accompanying promo video was filmed during a packed, sweaty gig at Brid’s Drum Shack – a venue Adam knows well.

“I just like the look of the place!”, Adam added. “It’s a small basement venue with a great vibe. It was a pleasure to shoot there, as they gave us pretty much free reign. It’s also somewhere I’m very familiar with, as I was head doorman of that venue – and the venue upstairs – before leaving the security business during the pandemic.”

As well as showcasing the band’s prowess as electrifying performers, the video (available on YouTube) highlights the catchiness of the track’s chant of a chorus.

Adam said: “I think my approach with lyrics is to think about the chorus and write something you would sing along to yourself.

“People like something they can follow and be involved with. I suppose it’s always best to be straight to the point. Chorus lyrics should be bold and make a statement. As regards the music, less is generally more.

“Overcomplicated, busy riffs only really impress other musicians. At the end of the day, most people just want something they can nod their heads to.”

Off-stage, behind the scenes, Adam is something of a PR wizard, having amassed a considerable amount of high-profile contacts in the world of metal, as evidenced by L.O.C’s imminent exposure in this year’s Download Festival programme.

Adam said: “About a week before the programme was going to print, my contact at Kerrang! contacted me, saying they had a great opportunity, and offered us a full page slot in the programme to showcase L.O.C. This was a no brainer for us, as the exposure will be huge. We also have some other stuff coming up with Kerrang!

“We are lucky to have them on board, as getting a publication like Kerrang! to even humour you as an independent artist is very difficult.”
