Drama group for teenage girls will be the kat’s whiskers
A new Bridlington-based theatre group has been created for girls between the ages of 11 and 16.
Red Kite is in the process of putting together a performance group called Katnip, which will meet weekly in the town centre for an hour.

For parents in East Yorkshire, who despair of finding activities that are both fun, and enriching for teenagers, Red Kite could be the answer!
Rowan Martin, founder of Red Kite, said: “With recent research finding that a shocking 67% of young people spend little to no time outdoors, often staying glued to the mobile phone screens during the gap between returning from school, and going to bed, it’s no wonder that parents are stressed out about their wellbeing.

"We all want to help our teenagers be more physically active, reduce their screen time, and share hobbies and interests with like-minded peers.
"But finding them something to do after school can be an arduous task, especially as activities are often expensive, or require a long term commitment, when we’re not initially sure if our child will take to them.
“Our new performance group for teen girls, called Katnip, will include drama skills and games, dance and movement, improvisation, comedy, clowning, musical theatre, puppetry, poetry, and more – all in a playful, supportive environment.
“After school activities can be expensive, and young people can feel pressured to achieve, rather than enjoy the things they are interested in.
“Our group will have no fixed objectives, other than to help girls develop their self confidence, learn how to collaborate and communicate more easily, and have a whole lot of fun while learning some new skills.”
Katnip will meet weekly at a community venue in central Bridlington, on an early evening, with each session lasting an hour.
Entry will be £8 per young person, with discounts available for low income families, no questions asked.
