Drive-in movies come to Scarborough - where you can see them and what's showing

What-a-Movie has revealed dates  for outdoor cinema experience from the comfort and safety of your car in Scarborough.

“With mental wellbeing an increasing concern with the lockdown, this is an opportunity as the restrictions are eased for families to get out and enjoy a shared, fun experience in lovely surrounding," said Mike Hanson of What A Movie.

“The screenings will take place in accordance with government guidelines on social distancing to ensure the safety of guests. Everything will be contactless and cars will be parked a safe distance apart.”

There will be three or four screenings a day, including children’s favourites The Lion King, Frozen and Toy Story 4, to feel good Sing-Along greats Rocket Man, Bohemian Rhapsody and Grease, and the classic Mamma Mia, as well as Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Volumes one and two.

"We can guarantee there will be something for everyone, and as it’s a drive-in it won’t be affected by our unreliable British weather. Films will be shown on a high quality LED screen, with sound transmitted direct to your car radio via an FM frequency," said Mike.

Contactless ticket scanning on entry, marshalled parking in bays allowing for at least two-metre distances between cars. Food and snacks can be ordered on site and will be delivered to your car.

Screenings will take place at Scarborough Rugby Club on Friday August 21 to Sunday August 23.

Friday August 21: Frozen 2 at 1pm; Guardians of the Galaxy 2 at 4.30pm; Bohemian Rhapsody at 8pm

Saturday August 22: Jungle Book at 11am; Dirty Dancing at 1pm; Mamma Mia Here We Go Again at 5pm; Joker at 8pm

Sunday August 23: Toy Story 4 at 11am; The Lion King at 1pm; Greatest Showman at 5pm; Grease Sing Along at 8pm

Frozen 2: Disney enchantment continues. Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven leave Arendelle to travel to an ancient, autumn-bound forest of an enchanted land. They set out to find the origin of Elsa's powers in order to save their kingdom.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2: sci-fi fantasy adventure. The Guardians struggle to keep together as a team while dealing with their personal family issues, notably Star-Lord's encounter with his father the ambitious celestial being Ego.

Bohemian Rhapsody: story of the legendary British rock band Queen and lead singer Freddie Mercury, leading up to their famous performance at Live Aid (1985).

Jungle Book: live action Disney remake. After a threat from the tiger Shere Khan forces him to flee the jungle, a man-cub named Mowgli embarks on a journey of self discovery with the help of panther Bagheera and free-spirited bear Baloo.

Dirty Dancing: classic from 1987. Spending the summer at a Catskills resort with her family, Frances "Baby" Houseman falls in love with the camp's dance instructor, Johnny Castle. Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze star.

Mamma Mia Here We Go Again: five years after the events of Mamma Mia! Sophie prepares for the grand reopening of the Hotel Bella Donna as she learns more about her mother's past. The hits of Abba, Meryl Streep and Cher.

Joker: dark fantasy, In Gotham City, mentally troubled comedian Arthur Fleck is disregarded and mistreated by society. He then embarks on a downward spiral of revolution and bloody crime. This path brings him face-to-face with his alter-ego: the Joker.Joaquin Phoenix and Robert De Niro star

Toy Story 4: animated adventure. When a new toy called "Forky" joins Woody and the gang, a road trip alongside old and new friends reveals how big the world can be for a toy.
