Folk Choir joins forces with Manchester band
Fylingdales Folk from Robin Hoods Bay has forged an exciting link with the band 'Harp and a Monkey' from Manchester, and will be performing with them at Pickering Theatre on September 20th.
After a hugely successful joint project for last year's Music Festival in Whitby, it was decided that other opportunities should be found to work together, so the choir was invited to join the band on stage at the Kirk Theatre, Pickering. The award-winning song and story-telling trio 'Harp and a Monkey' specialise in poignant, uplifting and melodic songs about everyday life, love and remembrance. The Folk Choir provide an extra layer of glorious 4-part harmony to the band's beautiful arrangements.
Lead singer with the band, Martin Purdy says, "Our collaboration with Fylingdales Folk Choir clicked on every level - personally, professionally and creatively. What a reminder of the power of music, and the power of working with others to shape something bigger than the sum of the parts."
Rehearsals for the event have gone extremely well, with the band travelling across the country to put the final polish on the joint items for the show. Choir leader, Gillian Edwards, says, "We are thrilled to be singing with these brilliant musicians!"
The concert on Friday 20th September, starts at 7.30pm. Doors open 6.30pm. Tickets (£14) available to book from the Theatre webiste kirktheatre.co.uk
