The venue is monitoring advice from the government and an announcement on the status of the summer season will be made in the coming weeks.

Dominic Stokes, Head of SIVLive said: “As I am sure our audience will understand due to the unprecedented challenges and uncertainty the world is currently facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic it is very difficult for us to ascertain when the Scarborough Spa Orchestra season will begin and as such quite rightly cannot commit to any date.

"We are extremely hopeful that the Scarborough Spa Orchestra will be a key part of any Scarborough Spa summer programme that we can put on and that we will be able to continue to entertain seaside audiences like they have done since 1912.

"We are closely following developing news and guidance from the government and public health authorities and we hope to have a better idea of the situation in the coming weeks.

"Since SIV started operating Scarborough Spa in 2012 we have made sure the Spa Orchestra has been at the forefront of our entertainment and this will not change.

"Our number one priority must be and will always be the health, welfare and safety of everyone involved with and attending the Scarborough Spa Orchestra."
