John Godber and daughter's play tours to libraries

The play is described as “a kinda love story but not” Set in a vintage shop, it follows two students who meet through a shared obsession with television box sets.

John Godber said: “I have been working with my daughter, Elizabeth, who is a third-year creative writing student at Hull University, and two t students from Hull University’s Drama Department, Jack Marsden, and local girl Grace Christiensen, alongside singer/songwriter Ruby Macintosh.

“ We have created a mini musical about obsession, teenage life and box sets. New musicals are opening all over Yorkshire, and unlikely as it may seem one may be literally ‘popping up’ at a library near you.”

County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, executive member of Library and Information Services, said: “I’m delighted Scarborough library have been offered this opportunity of working with John Godber and his creative team.

“The subject matter should particularly appeal to young audiences. We’re always looking for new ways of attracting young people into libraries and I’m sure this play will do that.”
