REVIEW: Snow White, Spa Theatre, Scarborough

The Spa Theatre was sold out for the first afternoon of this year’s panto, and you can see why after being royally entertained by Tony Peers’ production of Snow White.

With daughters aged three, seven and 10 in tow, its no mean feat to entertain all three and myself, but the team behind the Spa panto once again kept the sell-out audience chuckling at the slapstick humour, cheering at the good guys and booing at the wicked stepmother through the two and a half hour show.

Muddles, played with great verve by Dale Ibbetson, along with his ‘mother’ Dame Clara, a superb performance from Ian Moore ensured there were plenty of laughs for young and old, the latter as usual showing no mercy, flirting with the male members of the audience naive enough to have sat at the front!

Linda Newport, director of the show, was great as the dastardly Wicked Queen, with Louise Willoughby a delightful Snow White - my youngest daughter Macie was very impressed indeed with her singing, and the youngsters from the Hatton School of Performing Arts were excellent as the seven dwarves and in their many other roles supporting the main cast with songs, music and dance numbers.

The show runs until January 1, including both afternoon and evening performances, so if you want to keep the family entertained during the festive season get yourself down to The Spa Theatre.
