Whitby School drama students present SIX: Teen Edition in 'sassy, frantic' production

SIX: Teen Edition has been written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Ross and presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals, and will see audiences enjoying the show at school over the nights of November 11, 12 and 13.

SIX: Teen Edition is a sassy, frantic and glittering exploration of what would happen if all of Henry VIII’s wives got together to see who had the worst time of it.

The ending, however, is somewhat unexpected and infinitely more satisfying – a true testament to the power of how conflict and struggle can bring people together - if only they can stop comparing each other!

Teacher of English and Drama, David Gaulter, said: “This is only our second full scale production as Whitby School and represents a massive amount of effort by my Year 11 GCSE Drama group, who are a fantastic group of vocalists and actresses.

”They really deserve a good audience.”

Student, Emily – who plays Jane Seymour, said: “I love our choice to put on SIX - not only is it an amazing musical but it has helped all our bonds grow as friends, not just actors.

“I have always believed that Drama is an amazing hobby, but this show so far has really helped convey that, even as Queens, it’s really important not to compare ourselves to others and personally, I really think that message really hits hard.”

Katy, who plays Anne Boleyn, loves playing her “because she is very excitable and bubbly but also quite sassy - plus she can hold a grudge!

"It has been a bit challenging to learn the lines and get truly into character but it has been a truly fun experience.

"I have loved the rehearsals as it is a really great vibe and everyone is just so good at lifting each other up,” she said.

Doors open 6.15pm, curtain up 7pm.

A bar will be open from 6.15pm as well as a raffle.

General admission is £7 with tickets from [email protected] using the reference SIX, or from the school’s Prospect Hill site.
