Visiting theatre production has starry lead

Shona Maule from the cast of Dogwood Production’s new drama, Honestly, has just been nominated in the prestigious National Fringe Theatre Awards for her performance as Lead Actor in a Play. The show visits Whitby’s Eighteen91 on Saturday 4th of October and Glasidale’s Robinson Institute on Thursday the 9th.

The production returns to its Whitby base after its London run and in rating the play four-stars, the London Everything Theatre critic described it as “Excellent, a fascinating show shining a light on all the lies we tell”

Shona plays Chloe and lies take her everywhere. Often, it’s back to school; her youthful looks allow the 26 year old to regularly enrol at sixth form colleges. Or working in a warehouse amongst other immigrants from Eastern Europe in the gig economy. Or into the trust of parents attracted to the Gauloise smoking French au pair. And now, into custody.

She says if you’re not happy with this one, why not make up a new one? And they come to life during the show. But there’s trouble ahead as her life comes under scrutiny.
