Attractions and venues hailed at Mumbler website Family Awards

The awards celebrated and recognised the best attractions and events for families in Scarborough, Whitby and Filey.

More than 15,000 votes were cast by members of the public who voted for their favourite family attractions and venues.

People were encouraged to nominate their favourite things to do with children in the local area across eight categories.

The top five most nominated in each category were then taken forward as finalists and the public then voted again for the winners.

Now the winners have been revealed.

They are:

Best Local Family Attraction: Winner – Playdale Farm; Highly Commended – North Bay Railway

Favourite Under 5s Class or Activity: Winner – Kathy Seabrook’s Fun Music; Highly Commended – Happy Sleepy Baby

Favourite Over 5s Class or Activity: Winner – East Coast Tigers; Highly Commended – Twilight Productions

Favourite Child Friendly Eating Out Venue: Winner – The Plough, Lebberston; Highly Commended – Eat Me Cafe Scarborough

Best Children’s Birthday Party: Winner – Magic Mike; Highly Commended – Mini Monsterz, Scarborough

Favourite Childcare Provider: Winner – Filey Childcare; Highly Commended – Childhaven Community Nursery School

Healthy and Active Kids Award: Winner – Super Swim Academy, Highly Commended – Rounders at Stephen Joseph Theatre

Best Community Project or Charity for Families: Winner - The Rainbow Centre, Highly Commended – Willows Lull

Scarborough and Whitby Mumbler is a website set up by local mum SJ Barker in 2018.

She said: “We are so lucky to have so many incredible activities, classes, attractions and events available.

“I wanted to give them all the recognition they deserved.

“The first-ever awards celebrated the businesses that wouldn’t usually appear on a local business awards platform.

“All of the nominees and finalists do a fantastic job providing things to do and places to go for families in Scarborough, Whitby and Filey.”
