The boost came after the charity was being nominated by Helen Simpkin, a customer consultant at the YBS Bridlington branch.

The charity provides a range of services which contribute to its mission of supporting people who experience homelessness and social exclusion. It offers homelessness support at its residential community and through its rough sleeper outreach service, as well as running a social enterprise to help sustain the support available.

Helen said: “We are proud to be able to support Emmaus Hull and East Riding in our community in Bridlington with a donation from the charitable foundation.

“I was looking for charities that really do great work within our community, and with the rise in homelessness in our area, Emmaus really stood out to me. Emmaus Hull and East Riding provides an important service.

“The work that they are doing to support people experiencing street homelessness is truly life changing.”

Stephanie Dixon, CEO of Emmaus Hull and East Riding, said: “We are thankful for this generous donation from the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.

"This will enable us to continue offering a stable home, tailored support, and meaningful work opportunities to people working to move on from homelessness. We value this partnership and the shared commitment to creating lasting change in our community.”
