Heritage buildings in Bridlington improved by Property Pride campaign
A number of Bridlington properties have undergone improvements, thanks to a campaign that encourages repairs and renovations.
The Property Pride campaign is run by Bridlington Ambassadors, a community interest company, and community voluntary group Brightening Up Bridlington (BUB).

Working in partnership with East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the organisations identified properties that need remedial works, working with the council’s planning enforcement team if necessary.
They identified 35 properties as being run down and needing remedial works, to help rebuild civic pride. Of these over two thirds have undergone restoration, or work is planned or underway.

This includes renovations to the former Hull Co-operative society building, and several other commercial properties on King Street, as well as the former M&Co building on Prince Street, now a children’s café and fun club, plus a long-abandoned property on Queen Street, being fully restored to its Victorian glory.
As part of the regeneration effort, 49 new local independent businesses that have opened across the town since February. New businesses range from restaurants and pubs to children’s clothes stores, a bridal shop and a witch-themed emporium.
The council has also supported two new murals in the town, through UK Shared Prosperity funds (UKSPF), that depict aspects of the town’s history, culture and local wildlife, and encourage visitors to the town.
The campaign is part of the ‘Clear Hold Build’ scheme, a multi-agency effort to tackle serious and organised crime and anti-social behaviour in Bridlington South Ward. East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s planning enforcement and anti-social behaviour teams are playing a key role, alongside Humberside Police and other agencies.

Martyn Coltman, Bridlington Ambassador, said: “We’re proud to support Bridlington and encourage pride in our town. Many of these buildings are a century old or more and are a key part of our seaside heritage.
“Repairs and renovations are a great way to enhance the look of our town and encourage more visitors to the area.”
Councillor Lyn Healing, East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet member for communities and public protection said: “We’re proud to support Bridlington to thrive, and to help communities to improve their local area.”
