Holiday and wedding firm’s innovative way to stay open

Mother-and-daughter team Molly and Joan Coombs – who run Grand Get-Togethers in Sherburn – are diversifying by offering their outdoor space for hire.

The pair said they are one of many tourism businesses to be hit hard by the pandemic, with months of bookings cleared and all of its Summer 2020 weddings postponed.

But, with lockdown restrictions easing to allow up to six people to meet up outside, they have been inspired to offer their field, play area and toilet facilities to small groups looking to avoid busy tourist hotspots.

The space available to hire includes the field, play area with swing set and slide, football goal posts, toilets, gas barbecue and outdoor seating.

Molly said: “We can’t wait to share our wonderful surroundings with the public again and breath some life back into Grand Get-Togethers.”
