Extended family members still live there and holidays to visit their relatives over the years have inspired the family’s latest venture into homemade gelato after sampling the Italian offering.

Stuart Fusco said: “I have such fond memories visiting our relatives in Italy as a child and can remember how amazing the gelato was there.

“We have always sold ice cream at Quayside and Royal Fisheries and it has long been a personal ambition of mine to make our own gelato.”

After much time researching, learning the trade and buying the equipment needed, Fusco Brothers Gelato was born.

“The incredible flavours and the smoothness of gelato has always impressed me and I wanted to share this experience in Whitby ” added Stuart.

The Fusco brothers now make their own gelato and sell it at their fish and chip establishments in Whitby and in Robin Hood’s Bay at Fish Box.

From its launch, it has proved immensely popular with customers and now other businesses are eager to sell the brand.

Stuart believes it to be the ultimate seaside experience.

“What could be better? A day at the seaside, with fresh air, seafood, fish and chips, followed by premium artisan gelato," he said.

Fusco Brothers Gelato is sold at Quayside, on the restaurant menu and available to take-away from their kiosk (next to the take-away), Fish Box Robin Hoods Bay, Royal Fisheries, Whitby and Betsy and Bo in Staithes.
