Jacksons Butchers, on High Street, Ruswarp, announced it was closing until further notice yesterday.

It posted on its social media: "We are sorry to inform you that a person in our preparation staff has tested positive for Covid-19.

"We have spoken to the relevant authorities and taken the decision to close until further notice, inline with the Government guidelines.

"We will keep you informed as we progress forward.

"Thanks everyone for your continued support, we will be back open in due course."

According to Government figures, last updated on Saturday evening, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases reported in the Scarborough borough so far is 779.
