Kirbymoorside-based Yorkshire Laundry is recruiting after seeing a huge surge in demand as ‘staycationers’ choose a UK break this summer.

The business, which has been in operation for around 100 years, is currently delivering over 10,000 pieces of laundry a day to hotels, holiday cottages, B&Bs and restaurants.

It is in stark contrast to the height of the pandemic when overall operations were scaled down and the company worked on a skeleton staff for three months as it continued to support key workers.

Managing director Chris Atkinson said: “It’s great to see staff members all back at work and the laundry full of life again.

“We’re very busy at the moment. People are flocking to the Yorkshire Coast for their summer holidays this year, which is great news for our local tourism sector.

“Because of this we are recruiting for production staff.”
