Pub near Whitby closes doors as staff member shows Covid-19 symptoms

A pub near Whitby has announced that it has closed its doors with immediate effect after a staff member started to show Covid-19 symptoms.

The Hare and Hounds in Hawsker has said that it has informed track and trace services to reach out to people who may have been in contact with the person in question.

A post on its Facebook page this afternoon stated: “Due to one of our team members having Covid-19 symptoms we have immediately closed our doors today until further notice.

“We are taking this extremely seriously and have been on the phone to all appropriate authorities all morning until now.

“Track and trace facilities are now involved and will contact appropriately in the upcoming day/days.

“We can only apologise in advance but we have abided by all government guidelines and will continue to do so.

“We thank you in advance and also thank our amazing customers for your continued support and kind words.

“All procedures taken today have been given to us by the government.”

The post added that it would keep customers informed via social media.
