The Queens Hotel on High Street has applied to amend its license so that dog owners can bring their pets once more.

The application by Katie Christlow reads: “Following an incident eight years ago involving a child and a dog who lived on the premises at the time, I was advised to make changes to my premises licence banning dogs from being on the premises.

“The dog was later destroyed, and I feel it would be beneficial for my business and for our customers to remove this condition and allow dogs on the premises.

“I would create separate ‘dog friendly’ and ‘family friendly’ seating areas and make sure people abide by these rules using signs, information on our website, etc.

“I am starting to serve and hot drinks during the day time, hopefully bringing in passing trade, many of whom will have dogs."

The application will be considered by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s licensing authority.
