Appeal to replace items stolen from Bridlington Round Table’s Santa Sleigh

Each year, volunteers from the organisation take the Santa Sleigh around Bridlington, much to the delight of young children and their families.

To make sure the joy continues this Christmas, the Round Table team is hoping to raise £5,000 to replace the stolen items.

A Bridlington Round Table spokesperson said: “Every Christmas, Bridlington Round Table’s Santa Sleigh takes to the streets of Bridlington, bringing Santa to local children and raising money for good causes across our community.

"Unfortunately, this year we’ve been dealt a blow we never expected.

“The unit where our Santa Sleigh is stored was broken into, and multiple items belonging to the sleigh were stolen.

“These aren’t just things that belong to Round Table. They are equipment bought, maintained and looked after by volunteers so that we can continue a Christmas tradition enjoyed by thousands of local families.

“Everything we raise through the Santa Sleigh is intended to benefit our community.

“Now, instead, we’re faced with having to spend money replacing stolen equipment simply to get the sleigh ready for Christmas.

“So we’re asking for Bridlington’s help.

“Every penny donated to this fundraiser will go towards replacing the stolen items, repairing any damage and making sure Santa’s Sleigh can get back on the road this Christmas.

“We’ll dig deep to replace what needs replacing and, rest assured, Santa’s Sleigh will be back out this Christmas.

“If anyone has any information about what happened, or knows where the missing items may have ended up, please get in touch with us.

“You can steal things from the sleigh. You won’t steal Christmas from Bridlington.

“Santa WILL be coming to Bridlington this Christmas.”
