Bridlington Ice Trail one of many projects to benefit from £12m fund
Bridlington’s popular ice trail was one of many events across the East Riding to benefit from a £12m fund invested in community projects.
The event saw visitors and locals marvel at the various ice sculptures placed at sites around Bridlington.

Communities across the area have benefited from millions of pounds of investment since 2022, via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), provided by the UK Government.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council enabled the investment, working with town and parish councils and local organisations to transform local facilities.

Valley Gardens redevelopment in Withernsea received more than £50,000 in investment, providing a new weatherproof stage roof, the installation of floodlighting, updating of the electrical system, and resurfacing of access paths.
Valley Gardens also received a Do It For East Yorkshire Community (DIFEY) Grant, funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, which improved infrastructure and safety by installing motion- activated floodlighting and upgrading the electrical circuit board.
Another project that has benefited from the UKSPF scheme has been the North Dalton Pond.
Restoration project, which received £20,000 to restore the pond’s depth and water quality, transforming it into a vibrant greenspace for wildlife and residents.
In total, 115 projects have received funding from UKSPF and REPF, including Bridlington Ice Trail, North Ferriby village hall, and ‘Feastival’ markets in Driffield, Hessle, Hornsea, Market Weighton, Howden, and Pocklington.
The council also offers individuals and organisations access to an online funding portal, East Riding 4 Community (ER4C), which can obtain information about Government, Lottery and charitable trust funding, as well as advice and support about funding opportunities. The portal can be found at eastriding4community.co.uk
Councillor Anne Handley, East Riding of Yorkshire Council leader, said: “We’re proud to invest in our region and it’s great to see these projects come to fruition.
“We hope local residents take full advantage of the enhanced facilities in their area and get involved in the many community and cultural activities on offer.”
