Christmas Tree Festival lights up lives of church visitors
Bridlington Christmas Tree Festival at St John’s Burlington Church has been hailed a success.
This year’s event raised more than £4,500 with the various displays lighting up the lives of visitors.

The church interior was lit up by thousands of fairy lights, and people had the chance to enjoy the creative work of various local groups.
The hugely popular event brought together local businesses, organisations and schools who put on a spectacular display of beautifully decorated trees.

During the festival the general public had an opportunity to vote for their favourite trees.
The results were:
Adult section - 1st: Cafe Society, 2nd: The Cutting Edge, 3rd: Litter Pickers.
Junior section – 1st Quay Academy, 2nd: Bay Primary School, 3rd: Hilderthorpe Primary School.
A spokesperson for the event said: “It was a magical start to the Christmas celebrations, and it helped raise vital funds for the church and Bridlington, York and Scarborough Hospitals charity.
“This year we raised a total of £4,600 of which £1,560 will be forwarded to the Hospitals Charity, which will enable it to fund the extras to improve healthcare facilities above and beyond the NHS.
“Team Tree at SJB would like to thank all who visited and supported the festival and individuals, schools and local businesses for contributing and decorating trees.
“Also, many thanks to all the choirs and entertainers and to all our sponsors and supporters, Lloyd Dowson, Bridlington Spa, Ernest Brigham Funeral Directors, Jake Stennett of Stenergy Electrics, and Matthew Stabler of Complete Audio/Visual.”
