Villagers have been getting involved in free weekend workshops, learning how to build every kind of model from cute cats to a giant grass-skirted dancing gorilla and a near life size Flamborough Bowls Club player in full white kit.

The Flamborough Rainbows and Brownies have also been getting in on the act, meeting at the local library to craft a troop of turtles alongside mini frogs, chicks and cows.

This year, the village will be visited by some famous fictional characters – keep your eyes peeled for Captain America, Mary Poppins and Where’s Wally?

Flowerpot trail maps which cost just £2 will be available from Flamborough Post Office and the village’s local Co-op and Pharmacy so that visitors won’t miss a model..

Chairperson for the 2026 event, Ian Wood, said: “This year there will be more large models than ever before, and we are really focused on getting more of the village involved.

“We have a range of quirky models which will be hosted by people who aren’t able to make one but want to be a part of this fun, family-friendly community celebration.

“Festival volunteers will soon be scattered across the village popping models into gardens. Community models will be dotted around the village in public green spaces.”

There will be a stall at this year’s YWT Puffin Festival on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7 where people can grab maps, purchase a limited-edition flowerpot puffin or treat themselves to some festival merchandise.

More information can be found via the festival’s Facebook page: Flamborough Flowerpot festival or by emailing [email protected].
