A Scarborough care team is celebrating after being recognised with a national award for its outstanding work supporting people with learning disabilities and autism.

The team at Rowan House in Scarborough, part of Milewood, has been presented with the prestigious Above & Beyond Team Award at the inaugural Stars of Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards.

The ceremony, hosted by The Traitors star Alexander Dragonetti, brought together professionals from across the UK to celebrate excellence, dedication and innovation within the learning disability and autism sector.

The Above & Beyond Team Award recognises teams who demonstrate exceptional commitment, creativity and compassion in their support of people with learning disabilities and autism.

Leonne Ridsdale, registered manager at Rowan House, said: “I am incredibly proud of the Rowan House team and would like to thank them all for their dedication and hard work. The commitment, compassion and unwavering support for the people who live with us shines through every single day. This award is a true testament to their hard work and the exceptional care they deliver.”

Clare Tomlinson, deputy manager, added: “This award means so much to us all. The team demonstrates resilience, kindness and the ability to meet every situation with understanding. The people we support are always at the heart of everything we do, which is exactly as it should be. Thank you, team. Keep shining.”

Martyn Heginbotham, chief executive of Milewood, said: “Rowan House represents the very best of our sector, a team who consistently go above and beyond to provide safe, meaningful and person-centred support. I am delighted to see their dedication recognised on such a significant stage.”
