Adam and Alex Pinion, brothers from Yorkshire, are the proud owners of a portfolio of luxury holiday homes located around Yorkshire and the Lake District.

The award-winning sibling duo, known for their expertise in interior design and for developing high-end villas along Croatia’s Dalmatian coast - as well as properties closer to home through their partnership with Omaze’s house lottery campaign - first started holiday letting in 2021 as a new passion project.

They now have a portfolio of four luxury properties, including The Malt Kiln and The Brew House just outside Harrogate, Calm Waters in Bridlington and The Ridge in Bowness-on-Windermere – all of which they designed themselves.

The properties, sleeping between eight and 12 guests, have been specially designed with their setting and location in mind. For example, Adam and Alex drew inspiration for The Ridge, their lakeside property, from contemporary lodges and alpine chalets, blending rich materials like oak with moody tones for a cosy atmosphere.

Meanwhile, their coastal holiday home, Calm Waters, features a lighter and more serene colour palette, and The Malt Kiln and The Brew House, both nestled in the countryside, are home to statement fireplaces and natural stone to evoke warmth and comfort.

Adam, owner of the luxury holiday lets, said: “The most important thing is that the design feels true to its location but also has something unique and memorable about it. Guests are looking for an experience, not just a place to stay, so the style should reflect the setting while offering something a little different.”

Each of the pair’s bespoke properties have their own standout features, with The Ridge boasting impressive views of Lake Windermere and a sleek cinema room, while The Malt Kiln and The Brew House are home to wood-clad living spaces, and Calm Waters has a double-height atrium with panoramic views over Bridlington South Beach.

The brothers’ hard work and attention to detail have certainly paid off, with more than 130 bookings lined up via Sykes Holiday Cottages so far in 2025. The properties are especially popular amongst those looking for somewhere special to escape with groups of friends or family.

Adam added: “Alex and I have always found the creative process of interior design very rewarding and the move into holiday letting has proved to be just as fulfilling for us both. Interiors play a crucial role in the overall feel and success of a holiday let and we’re really proud of each of our properties and the luxury staycation experience we’re able to offer guests, who always notice the details and have such lovely feedback for us.

“On top of this, Sykes have been so easy to work with and have provided their advice every step of the way, making us feel supported throughout the whole process. We’re excited to see where the journey takes us next and to continue providing special breaks to holidaymakers for years to come.”

James Shaw, Managing Director at Sykes Holiday Cottages, said: “Adam and Alex’s collection of holiday homes are truly impressive and it’s no wonder they’ve proved such a hit with holidaymakers. The more you look at them, the more there is to discover! It just goes to show how far attention to detail and an eye for design goes.

“Yorkshire and the Lake District continue to be some of the most popular places to own a holiday let, and it’s great to see these properties adding to their charm and providing a first-class choice for holidaymakers coming to the area.”
