CU student Katy secures place on J.P. Morgan mentorship scheme

Katy Hannath, a cyber security student at CU Scarborough, has been awarded a place on the Finding Ada Network programme with global financial services leader J.P. Morgan.

The programme looks to support women in technology by pairing them with female mentors in technical roles within J.P. Morgan.

Katy, who is from Scarborough, has been paired with J.P. Morgan software developer Tamika Kalule who will help her set and achieve goals and develop her skills.

She said: “I’m extremely pleased to be awarded one of just 50 places on the Finding Ada Network mentorship programme.

“It was my tutor Dr Duncan Greaves who made me aware of the scheme and encouraged me to apply.

“I will be working with my mentor Tamika to set and achieve a number of goals throughout the 12 months, and she will also help me with my CV and job applications as I progress through my final year at CU Scarborough.

“There are very few women working in technology, so the programme is an excellent way to help females progress and I feel very privileged to be selected to take part.”

Dr Siobhan Taylor, head of curriculum for cybersecurity and engineering at CU Scarborough, said: “It is fantastic that Katy has been awarded a place on such a prestigious programme and has been paired with such an experienced mentor.”
