Fifty children from nine Whitby area primary schools enjoy partnership-wide event

Almost 50 children from across nine primary schools in Whitby and the surrounding areas enjoyed a brilliant day together.

Children from Danby, Egton, Goathland, Fylingdales, Hawsker, Lythe, Ruswarp, Seton and Sleights took part in hands-on, practical activities to help understand, retell and share the Easter story.

The nine schools together create the Yorkshire Coast Education Partnership.

The group of schools, established in 2022, boasts a busy calendar of events for pupils, staff collaboration and governor training.

During the event, children worked together in groups formed by pupils from different schools to help build important links ahead of transition to secondary school.

These groups took part in hands on worship at St Stephen's Church in Fylingdales, a visit to the Methodist Church, shared stories in song and brought away a beautiful palm cross and heart with a verse from the church.

The group also had a busy morning using natural materials to create the Easter story in art form on the beach at Robin Hood's Bay.

The children said had a great day and enjoyed working with friends from other schools.

These events help to bring children from small schools together to create something big and brilliant.

The partnership is busy putting the finishing touches to its summer term events programme, including the annual sporting event at Mulgrave Woods.
