Snainton Church of England Primary School accredited as National Nurture School

Snainton Church of England Primary School has been accredited as a National Nurture School by Nurture UK.

The award recognises the school as a place where pupils benefit from an approach that supports children and young people with their specific needs, with the heart of the school focus being that learning is understood developmentally based on the Six Principles of Nurture and the use of the Boxall Profile ® Online.

The core aims of the programme are as follows:

Parents benefit by being involved and welcomed in the school, in seeing the improvement in their children’s learning, behaviour, confidence and attendance, with a better outcome for their children both in and out of the school and classroom.

Teachers benefit from having an opportunity to focus on their pupils’ individuality whilst ensuring the best social, emotional and academic outcome.

Teachers will also enable a culture where every stakeholder’s voice counts.

Schools benefit from showing their commitment to developing an ethos and culture that is inclusive, supports everyone in and associated with the school.

Communities benefit from having a school that wants to be at the heart of the community and demonstrates its central role in children and young people’s lives.

Carol Olivier , chair of governors, said: “We are extremely proud of the school as the report shows the strong relationships between adults and children.

“The children are at the heart of what our school does and this is reflected in the assessor's comments.

“The report also highlights the importance of the school's work within its local village community.

“All stakeholders, including the governing body, are fully involved in the development of the ethos of the school.”

Matthew Davies, Headteacher, said: "There are many aspects of this national award that are so pleasing to see throughout our village school community.

“Staff have worked tirelessly over recent years to continue to develop our ethos to ensure that we nurture every member of the school community.

“All stakeholders now recognise the school as a loving, compassionate and welcoming environment and I am very proud to hear this shone through during our Nurture UK assessment.”
