“98% of all disease is lifestyle related, our bodies don’t let us down we let our bodies down,” says Andy Cowling, owner of The Ultimate Transformation Programme, a 12-week diet and exercise scheme aimed at those who wish to transform their health and well-being, recover lost fitness levels and improve their quality of life.

“We don’t get ill overnight, it’s a gradual process whereby the body deteriorates over time due to not receiving what it requires - or getting too much of what it doesn’t need - to function efficiently,” he explains.

What we need, says Andy, in the way of essential nutrients and vitamins, is only obtainable through a completely natural ‘real’ wholefood diet coupled with clean drinking water, daily exercise/activity/movement, sunshine, fresh air and adequate, quality deep sleep.

“Without all these we will eventually suffer ill health. When this happens no drug will cure us, prescribed medication will only help us manage symptoms and may even exacerbate things, the only way to cure lifestyle related disease or at least drastically improve it is to address the cause, our lifestyle,” he says.

Illnesses like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, hypertension, alzhemiers and other diseases common today can often be attributed to our lifestyles – including our diet and exercise.

So why 12 weeks? That’s the time we need to fully change our behaviour. Andy explains: “It takes approximately 12 weeks to fully adapt to long-term behavioural change, dispense with bad habits whilst adopting new beneficial ones.”

This programme is a common sense approach to both diet and exercise which could reverse, or at least improve many, if not all lifestyle-related issues.

It provides the body with all the essential nutrients it needs and exercise required to improve your cardiovascular capacity (how your heart and lungs are working to get oxygen round your body) and will also help strengthen and improve muscle tone – which is essential to support your joints and improve balance and mobility.

This is not a quick-fix weight loss plan – although it could be used that way – it’s an opportunity to make real changes to your lifestyle which will shed excess body fat, drastically improve your health and fitness and enhance the quality of your life.

What the programme includes:

* Initial Consultation to ascertain Health/Fitness Aims/Goals

* A Health/Body Composition Analysis Check and follow up checks at week 6 and week 12 to monitor progress

* The Diet (list of permitted ‘real’ foods)

* The Exercise programme (3 sessions per week)

* Ongoing support, advice and encouragement throughout

The diet is a list of ‘permitted’ natural ‘Real’ wholefoods that nature provides us with. When these foods are consumed as close to their purest form as possible they will provide all the essential nutrition and natural energy necessary for the body to function efficiently, helping heal or even reverse many of today’s lifestyle related health issues.

“What you put into your body affects how it functions,” Andy says. “Faddy diets cannot be sustained.”

The exercise is a combination of resistance/weight training and HIIT (high intensity interval training) performed three to four times a week with progression – all aimed at improving that cardiovascular functionality and strengthen and tone your muscles.

Those taking part need never enter a gym if they don’t want to, and could do everything at home by following the online programme. It doesn’t matter what age you are or how fit or unfit but a willingness to change and stick to the programme is essential in order to see results.

You can expect to exercise up to four times a week with weights/resistance-based sessions and HIIT (high-intensity interval training). No session lasts more than 30 minutes, excluding warm up and cool down.

“For the first few weeks people will struggle, but this is an investment in your future,” says Andy. “If I can do it at nearly 50 then anyone can.”

How will I know it’s working?

After an initial consultation clients will get a health check and body composition analysis to assess health markers. Follow up screenings will be carried out at week 6 and week 12 to monitor progress and you will receive ongoing support, advice and encouragement throughout, from not just ‘the team’ but members of the ‘Club’ who will be experiencing the same journey.

The man behind the programme

When former footballer Andy Cowling was in his mid forties, he was struggling to move without pain, let alone get on the field and play. But now he’s fitter and leaner than he’s ever been, and has been able to come off any medication and says he no longer suffers any symptoms from the rheumatoid arthritis which was blighting his life. That’s why he’s now helping others to improve their health and fitness through this carefully controlled programme of diet and exercise via his business, the Health Transformer Club.
