Coronavirus: Total number of confirmed cases in Scarborough borough passes 700

The most recent Government figures for the borough, released late yesterday afternoon, added another eight to the total, which now stands at 706 confirmed cases.

Hide AdThe data includes tests carried out in hospitals and also Pillar 2 tests, which is anyone tested at one of the mobile sites in the borough or sent a test to take at home.
Earlier this week, North Yorkshire’s Director of Public Health, Dr Lincoln Sargeant, warned that the borough was likely to remain as a coronavirus Area of Concern for at least another week.
The drive-through coronavirus testing centre is in Scarborough at the Park and Ride on Seamer Road on Sunday, Whitby Park and Ride on Monday and the National Trust car park in Thornton-le-Dale on Tuesday.

Hide AdThe testing has been organised by the Department of Health and Social Care which has warned people to not just turn up but make an appointment first.
There are two ways to do this depending on which testing group you are part of.
Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

Hide AdPeople who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.
Key workers and members of their household should register for a test on the government website.
