Covid on the coast: Whitby pub closes, Filey vets part-closes after staff members test positive

The Duke of York, on Church Street, posted on social media: "We are closing today (Saturday) due to a member of our pub cleaning crew testing positive for Covid-19.
"This member of staff does not come into contact with the public. This is a precautionary measure while we deep clean and take public health guidance. We will reopen when it is safe to do so."

Hide AdMeanwhile, a Filey vets will provide emergency services only after a team member tested positive for the disease.
Filey Veterinary Practice, on Station Avenue, announced the news on social media today.
"Despite all of our stringent protocols, we have a positive case of Covid-19 in our team," it said.
"Because we are a public facing workforce, it was only a matter of time before this happened.

Hide Ad"In the interest of client safety, staff safety and to do the right thing – we have made the difficult decision to provide emergency only care for one week.
"This is NOT a track and trace decision but one we have decided on to keep everyone safe.
"There will be a skeleton team at the practice to deliver a drug service, emergency cover and advice.
"We always have been and always will be at the end of the phone."
