Man fined £200 for Covid breach as police carry out spot-checks at Yorkshire Coast pub
A man was fined £200 for breaching coronavirus rules while visiting a Filey pub.
Police carrying out spot checks in the town last night handed out the fine after discovering the man in The Belle Vue.
Officers were checking the addresses of everyone there and that they were sitting with members of their own household.
Under coronavirus restriction rules in Tier 2, people can be fined for socialising indoors with anyone they do not live with or who is not in their support bubble.
People from Tiers 3 and 4 can also be fined for meeting people indoors. Pubs and restaurants are shut in Tiers 3 and 4.
The Belle Vue posted on social media: "Last night we had a routine police check where everyone's address was checked and who they were sitting with. It resulted in one gentleman receiving a fixed £200 penalty.
"Do not come in if you are in Tier 3 or 4.
"Do not sit with someone who is not registered at the same address as you.
"The police ARE doing checks and you WILL get fined."
