Police reveal photos of illegal house parties - they handed out 171 Covid fines in Scarborough area in December

Police in Scarborough have released these shocking pictures of gatherings officers have raided along with a fresh appeal for people to follow coronavirus rules.

Officers have published the images on social media with a warning about illegal parties in the borough.

Between December 2 and January 1, they had to issue 171 fines in the Scarborough district to people gathering indoors, including at house parties.

As reported by The Scarborough News, 16 people were fined, with their penalties coming to a total of £3,200 after police raided a house party in Scarborough last Saturday.

Police have released images of people breaking coronavirus rules along with a warning about illegal gatherings

The police posted on social media: "Over the last month, our teams responded to several reports of house parties and indoor gatherings at homes across the Scarborough district.

"Parties and indoor gatherings put everyone’s safety at risk and under the coronavirus restrictions, they are against the law.

"Thank you to those who have reported incidents to us so far and thank you to everyone following the guidance and staying at home.

"Please be assured, our teams are continuing their proactive patrols across the district, as well as responding to reports of restriction breaches, and we will be doing everything we can to help keep you safe."
