Scarborough borough Covid infection rate rises slightly and still above national average

The borough’s seven-day infection rate rose slightly to 164 cases per 100,000 people, up by one from the previous day.

It means that Scarborough continues to be above the average rate for England, which now stands 151.

The average rate for North Yorkshire has dropped by three to 103 and Craven has the second-highest figure in the county at 135, a drop of 19 on the previous day.

The total number of cases in Scarborough since the start of the pandemic is 3,077.

Today, a mobile testing facility will be at Scarborough’s Seamer Road park and ride site before returning to the Marina Car Park in Whitby tomorrow.

Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site at William Street Coach Park is also offering testing seven days a week from 8am until 8pm.

Appointments for all sites must be booked in advance.

Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website.

People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.
